Over the past couple of months we’ve spent a fair amount of time on this blog looking at what we feel are some of the key components of building a successful video platform (unsurprisingly, these are also some of the most important features of the Airbeem platform as well). But while individual features are important and can certainly present some powerful functionality, we need to consider how they combine and work together to really create something unique.
As an example, let’s consider analytics; a key part of any video offering, that are usually made available as part of the platform with varying levels of depth and detail. Some analytics modules are fully integrated and provide rich, value based reporting across the whole service (like Airbeem’s do), some cover just the basics, some are supplied by third parties but need integration by a dedicated systems integrator before being able to realise the full value. And this only covers the level of functionality of the analytics themselves – it speaks to nothing of how the analytics can function in concert with other parts of the service.
We have long felt that anything made available within our platform needs to be a) fully integrated into the rest of the platform (we don’t believe in leaving out customers to find their own systems integrators to plumb together all the stuff that we offer), b) should work in concert with the rest of the platform’s functionality, enabling our customers to unlock the full value of their video.
Consider analytics again. If they are reporting on how your audience are using the service, you should be able to react to those reports relatively easily. If you can understand your audience’s behaviour, then shouldn’t you be able to take advantage of that? Whether it be in tweaking the UI, improving playback or other technical aspects, if one part of the platform is telling you that you can improve another (without rolling out an entirely new Statement of Work and several months of SI), then you should be able to do it. That’s the point of the platform being out of the box.
It’s something that we at Airbeem feel very strongly about, and will be demonstrating this year at IBC. If you want to meet with us for a demo or to learn more, get in touch.
